Fall Ball Registration Now Open!

GVLL Families,

We hope that you are all doing well and navigating the very interesting back-to-school season this year.

First of all, thank you to all of you who signed the petition asking the Mayor to reverse the decision by NYC Parks to not offer field permits for this fall. On Friday, Mayor DeBlasio announced that NYC Parks will restore permits to youth leagues for the Fall after all. This means that in addition to Pier 40 and Chelsea Waterside Park we will now be able to use JJ Walker and Randall's Island fields, as we have in the past.

We are opening baseball and softball registration for the Fall season today.

Here are some important points to be aware of:

  • We are hoping to open the season on Saturday September 13th, and run through Sunday November 15th. We are keeping the fee for the Fall season the same as last year, at $175. Scholarship requests should be emailed to  [email protected] before registering your player.

  • We cannot yet guarantee specific days/times for our various divisions, as we still have to make adjustments given the permits we are now getting back, and to see what the level of interest is during registration. While we will try to keep things as similar as possible to previous years, we may need to shift, combine or stagger attendance to comply with restrictions.  Any dates/times you may see during registration are tentative and subject to change.

  • Given the possibility of last-minute changes to fields, dates and times after you have registered, we will honor refund requests after the schedules are finalized, before the season begins.

  • Those of you who did not ask for a refund of your Spring registration fees, or donate them to the league, will now see a credit on your account, which will be automatically applied to your Fall registration, and future registrations, until it has been used up.

  • ALL participants must sign the new COVID waiver and Return to Play guidelines (attached, and provided during registration) and observe all rules and instructions at the fields with regard to health checks, PPE, sanitizing, social distancing, etc. Our permits depend upon our ability to follow the guidelines set by the issuing authorities, so in the interest of keeping the league running and the kids playing we ask for your cooperation at all times with the volunteers who will be supervising compliance at the fields.
