GVLL Families Please join me in congratulating our GVLL U10 ACEs team! They WON the Little League Memorial Day Tournament this weekend in the 10U age bracket, beating out 8 other little leagues from across the city. Peter Stuy LL, Downtown LL, Harlem LL, Inwood LL, OLS LL, South Riverdale LL, etc. This is no small feat! They went 4 - 0 going into the Championship today, and won the final game 4-2. Congratulations to: Aaryn Adya, Alice Demuth, Bryson Wolf, Chrissy Ansley, Jackie Blush, Jasper Brown, Lee Fleischman, Ryan Robinson, Shane Maxwell, Teddy Rice, Zachary Buchwald, and Zev Hertz. We also had a second GVLL team competing in this same 10U bracket…our GVLL ACEs U9 team. They finished second!! So a big congrats to them as well. Can you believe it? A GVLL sweep!! Two GVLL teams battling for the Chip on our home field at Pier 40. On a personal note, I just want to say how proud I am of both teams. My 16 year old twins came to watch the Championship game and they talked over dinner about how enjoyable it was. The kids clearly loved baseball, they loved competing, they loved being part of a team, they showed sportsmanship. There was a community standing behind them. It was a pleasure to watch. I look forward to taking this same energy into the final stages of the rec league season. Thank you to all the parents who withstood the hurricane on Friday night, and the blazing sun the remainder of the weekend. It’s been such a great season.
