The Greenwich Village Little League U10 and U12 Little League World Series Teams  BOTH went to the Sectional Championships in July and played against Staten Island teams.

We can't overstate what a huge accomplishment this was!!  Never has this happened before in the 40 year history of our Little League. 

In the end U10 lost in a 5-4 score against Mid-Island LL, and while U12 beat South Shore LL in a 2-1 nail bitter -- which is ridiculously amazing because no one has ever won against South Shore in Sectionals and our guys did it -- the tournament was double elimination and so our kids had to play them again the next night and did not come out on top. 

But this U12 team made history by going further than any other team in this little league ever has before.

All these kids and coaches battled 4 weeks straight and getting to the Sectionals CHIP was a HUGE accomplishment. Not only did they beat all Little Leagues in our District (New York City), but they also conquered Throgs Neck (D22), and Pelham (D21) as they moved through sectionals.  As always, it's D24 that's the problem -- Staten Island lives for this and trains for this. And every year, Greenwich Village has been getting closer and closer.  Maybe next year will be our year!
