Volunteer FAQ

How can I volunteer?
GVLL is an all-volunteer organization and we ask that everyone lend a hand. We need people to be managers, team parents, event producers, marketers, webmasters and more. We ask all those who register to choose a way in which they'd like to pitch in and we expect everyone to honor that commitment. Not sure what you have signed up for?  Interested in new opportunities? Click here for instructions on registering as a volunteer.

Always feel free to contact the GVLL board at [email protected] to let us know you’d like to help out or to find out more about volunteering opportunities. You can view a list of volunteer positions and a description of their responsibilities here.

Does GVLL perform background checks on its volunteers?
Yes. All GVLL volunteers who are working with kids/coaching are required to submit to an annual background check, per Little League of America regulations.

I’d like to be a Manager or Coach. How does that process work?
Fill out the GVLL volunteer form, (click here for instructions on registering as a volunteer) and indicate that you would like to be a Manager or Coach. We will let you know if your help is needed before the start of the season. Please note that there are fewer spots in the Majors divisions and that positions on those teams tend to go to volunteers with prior coaching experience in the League.

Other than Managers and Coaches, what other roles are there for parents on their child’s team?
There are many ways you can help the League. If you would like to help your child’s team specifically in a role other than that of coach or manager, consider volunteering as a Safety Coordinator or Team Parent. You can read more about the duties of each here.
